We mean it!

Not long ago, we posted a write up on how not to have your donation rejected, hoping that people would read and reduce the number of rejects we would received. However, this doesn't seems to help, we are still getting quite a number of rejects these days.

In a very recent collection, we had, for the first time, a 100% rejection on a single collection day.

The ponytail above looks fine, no visible smell, but it's greasy. Hair has not been washed.

This ponytail is still damp, looks like it was cut wet and was left to dry. Obviously, it wasn't dry enough, you can see mould started growing around the rubber band area. It smell too! (Click on the photo to enlarge it.)

Her hair was too thick for the stylist to cut in a single ponytail, so rubber band was removed before cutting. Tying of cut hair was not done correctly, causing some strands caught in the opposite direction.

All these could have been avoided if instructions were followed. But sometimes, you will need to be persistent enough when you encountered stubborn stylists like the one below.

A couple of weeks back, we received an email from a secret agent, 'G', informing us about a lady, who had a bad experience while trying to get her hair cut for donation.

After going through our records, we confirmed that we have rejected a donation from a lady bearing the same name (not sure if it's the same person though).

While some salons allow you to wash your hair before cutting, many preferred to cut when your hair is still wet. This is not only to save time, it's easier to cut as wet hair stay in place and that's how they were taught.

If creative enough, stylist can actually blow dry the portion of her hair to be cut, leaving the top wet to save time. This was what one of our donors told us in her email. And if the hair isn't wet enough for cutting, stylist can always spray water on them.

So our advise to those who wish to donate their hair, ask before going to a salon. If it's the salon that you frequently visit, be persistent, or risk having your hair rejected.

We will not responsible if your hair is rejected.
