We had sent some hair to the wig maker in September.
It was supposed to be ready in late November / early December, but due to the Safe Management Measures, the completion date has been pushed back.

We have been making wigs. Our wigs are not just for cover, but an armour filled with love for warriors battling cancer.
This wig is no exception. Except for this warrior is a 6-year-old princess. Let's gather all the love and wishes for this little princess.

Dear all,
In view of the evolving novel coronavirus (“2019-nCoV”) situation, recycle your hair volunteer group will be putting on hold all upcoming activities.
This includes our next batch of hair to be sent to the wig maker next week.
We would also like to remind everyone to remain vigilant and to adopt good personal hygiene practices at all times.

When all meet up
We had hair donors, recipient and volunteers gathered for one reason; donating of wigs.
And yes, all 30 wigs were donated to the wig bank of NCCS on Aug 24.

It's all done
All wigs done and collected, including those from the first batch that had been sent for rework. Photos of each individual wig will be posted soon.
Total cost for all 30 wigs is SGD 5400. Balance fund now is SGD 7908.59.

The second batches of hair were sent in a month ago when we were supposed to collect the previous batch (update on Batch 1 below). The wigs (16 of them) should be ready by next week or so.

Today is World Kindness Day.
It’s the time of the year to do at least one act of kindness today.
As you all know, we have temporarily stopped accepting hair donation since the beginning of the year to focus on raising fund to make more wigs in order to benefits more patients.
And today, we are launching our fundraising campaign. We hope that with this campaign, we could get more people to help with the cost of making of our wigs.
This project had been running from the pocket of our volunteers, their friends and colleagues. Sometimes, we have hair donors sponsoring our wigs as well. It's not sustainable in a long run. Therefore, we decided to seek more help from the public.

2nd batch Donated
Our second batch of wigs of 2016 have been donated to Breast Cancer Foundation last Saturday, 13 May 2017.

This project was officially started in 2011. However, not many people in Singapore knew about this.

Halfway
This has been a busy year for these volunteers. Other than busy appearing on television and social media. They had been supporting some event as well.
In April, they were involved in an event by Mediacorp Radio station Love 972 and Ocean Butterflies Singapore for VIVA Foundation for Children with Cancer. They help whenever needed. So help them to help more.

Day number 5 … The volunteers have been checking the vote count as and when they are happy anxious. Still far behind.
They had been asking people to vote, but people may not really know what they really do. Yet again, another couple of months back (like there are 24 months this year) crews from Mediacorp Chinese News were seen with them. And then… they appeared on a television programme on Channel U.
The show, World This Week, did a brief segment on what this group is all about, you can watch it over at the link below.
But then, still no sponsor.
Vote for them, though they cannot be your voice in the parliament, they can help those in need too.

Day 3
Day 3 of the voting period and it seems like the story of these volunteers are lagging behind. The volunteers are still working hard to get more people to vote for their story.

The project that these volunteers are running is self-funded. They do not have any big organisations or companies to support them. The only support from the government, indirectly, is maybe the GST voucher given to the volunteers and it’s not a big sum.

They are waiting to be recycled into wigs for our cancer patients, and they do not need pay a single dollar (not even a cent), it’s all fully sponsored for by these volunteers, their friends and colleagues… and volunteers and their friends again… and their friends again … until may they are broke?
